Sameera Zaman

Sameera graduated from the School of Environmental Science and Management of IUB in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management. After graduation, she worked on Environmental Management Systems for a Pharmaceutical Company and later completed her Masters in Environmental Sciences from the University of Freiburg, Germany. Sameera is an experienced environmental and social researcher, who manages to pursue her passion in finding sustainable solutions to new-age problems and understanding the complex nature of the environment and its interactions. Her previous work experience in research includes working as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Freiburg at the Institute of Hydrology, Chair of Landscape Ecology and Nature Conservation as well as the Chair of Remote Sensing and Landscape Information Systems. In Bangladesh, Sameera has conducted research on diverse thematic areas including sustainable fashion, implementation of the circular design, and socio-economic impacts of climate change. Apart from research work, her previous professional experience includes working with gender equality and disaster management in the development sector. She is currently a Lecturer and a Research Associate at the Center for Sustainable Development, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh




Farhana Khan Pushpa

Farhana completed her graduation in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management and then completed her Masters in Natural Resource Management in 2013, both from IUB. She then obtained a Leadership Certificate in Managerial Communication from IBA (DU). Farhana started her professional career as the Senior officer, PR & Publications at JAAGO Foundation and soon after, joined one of the pioneering organizations in Bangladesh’s forest conservation– Arannayk Foundation. There she managed the communications department as well as trained groups of professionals on adaptation to change including climate change issues. Currently, she is working as the Communications Manager of an INGO named Education and Development Foundation – Educo. Farhana is a passionate communications professional with experience of proactively ensuring knowledge transfer through maximizing the utilization of existing systems and resources. She is dedicated to applying knowledge of conceptualizing, developing, and executing social media communications to manage organization’s impressions and produce relevant contents. Apart from this, Farhana also has keen interest in studying crucial development issues of Bangladesh, focusing on Chittagong Hill Tracts. Some of her studies have been published in international journals as well.




Dilruba Shimo

Dilruba Shimo completed her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from IUB in 2018. She started her professional career at Consiglieri Private Limited (CPL), a research and consultancy firm. After that, she joined Oxfam in Bangladesh where she was connected with two projects. Currently, Dilruba is employed at WorldFish Bangladesh and South Asia as a Research Assistant with the Resilient Small-scale Fisheries Program in Bangladesh. While she was a student at IUB, Dilruba engaged herself with nature conservation by working in the development sector and doing action research. She was an active member of several clubs and participated in many intra-IUB extra-curricular activities and leadership programs. Dilruba is the former president and member of the founding body of River Conservation Club (RCC). Dilruba is currently also continuing her Masters in Development Studies at the University of Dhaka.




Nabila Hoque

Nabila completed her graduation in 2016 with a Bachelors’ degree in Environmental Science and Management from IUB. Subsequently, she completed her Masters’ in GIS for Environment and Development (MSGED) from the Jahangirnagar University. Nabila started her professional career on the Rohinga Response as a GIS Analyst with Christian Aid Bangladesh. There she prepared several camp site maps and created a proper WASH management system for the Rohinga camps After that, she worked with The Queen's University Belfast as a Research Assistant and with Pragya (INGO) as Consultant- Monitoring and Coordination respectively. Her main focus was WASH sector management, GIS & RS mapping, project monitoring, and development research. Currently, she is working as the Field Coordinator and Administrative Officer of an INGO named SEEDS ASIA. Nabila is working on a project called "School-based Capacity Building for Enhanced DRR" with Dhaka North City Corporation. She is supervising necessary arrangements and implements for the school-based DRR with North City Corporation. Furthermore, Nabila also working on different Researches, focusing on water resource management and WASH. One of her studies was the Baseline study of the tannery state of Bangladesh with the Department of Environment Bangladesh (DoE).




Borna Teresa Adhikary

Barna completed her BSc in Environmental Science in May of 2020 as a Summa Cum Laude. She received the fully funded stipendium Hungaricum scholarship through which she has started her MSc in Environmental Science in Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. During her undergrad in IUB. Borna was an active member of the Environment Club and was also a research assistant to Ms Karishma Sinha under the project titled “Temporal and Spatial variations in tourist generated waste: A Case study of Cox Bazar” funded by Independent University Bangladesh. Aside from my academic career, Borna has also professionally worked as an Environmental Management/Geography teacher at BACHA English Medium School.
